Russia’s car output fell 59.4% year on year to 597,000 units in 2009, the industry and trade ministry said Wednesday.

The output of foreign-branded cars fell an annual 52.7% to 281,100; of those 192,200 were built by companies operating under industrial assembly agreements with Russia, down 48.9%.

The output of Russian-branded cars fell 63.9% to 316,900.

Truck output amounted to 91,400 units in 2009, down 64.3%. Of the total, the output of foreign-branded trucks amounted to 7,400 units, down 59.4%

Bus output was 35,500 units in 2009, down 46.3%; this included 4,500 foreign-branded buses, up 4.5%.
