AvtoVAZ suspended production for the entire month of August in order to reduce stocks.
Production lines at GM-AvtoVAZ, which makes the Niva SUV, have also restarted.
However, Prime-Tass reported that AvtoVAZ also said earlier that it would shorten its work week until February 28, 2010.
AvtoVAZ employees are expected to work 20 hours per week and receive wages only for the time they work, the report said.
