AvtoVAZ has not ruled out producing its own brand light commercial vehicles at the facilities of bankrupt carmaker IzhAvto, the company’s president Igor Komarov told the VAZ TV television channel.
Earlier this month AvtoVAZ signed an agreement to take over IzhAvto’s assets and invest in its development.

Renault–Nissan, which has a 25% share in AvtoVAZ, has offered to produce LCVs, some of which would be made under the Lada brand, Komarov said, without providing any further details.
The purchase of IzhAvto, Komarov added, was in line with AvtoVAZ’ plans and strategy.
He also told the television station that AvtoVAZ plans to start equipping its Kalina and Priora cars with an automatic gearbox sometime in June–August 2012 while the company’s new low-cost model, the Lada Granta, will be unveiled at the Moscow motor show next August.
