The board of directors of AvtoVAZ has approved the appointment of Bo Andersson as its new president. The Swede will start work in the new year in his new role as the first non-Russian chief of Russia’s largest vehicle producing group.
The announcement was expected after Andersson, currently CEO of GAZ, was recently recommended for the post.

The AvtoVAZ board has accepted the resignation of AvtoVAZ President Igor Komarov, who has run the company since 2009.
Andersson, who has also previously held a senior management position in purchasing at General Motors is seen – particularly after his positive impact at GAZ – as the ideal boss for the loss-making giant that is seeking to modernise and integrate more fully with the Renault-Nissan Alliance.
Komarov, meanwhile, has been appointed as the deputy director of Russia’s Federal Space Agency.
