Import tariffs on all automobiles will be reduced from 30 to 25 per cent in a
bid to curb illegal foreign car imports, writes Prime-Tass (22/11/00).
Citing Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin Monday (21/11/00) – after a Foreign Trade
Commission meeting – the Russian media organisation said the tariff on light automobiles
was an ‘exception’ as the four prinicipal tariffs will replace the seven rates
currently in use. According to Prime-Tass, these principal rates are 5, 10, 15
and 20 per cent.
