Dacia and Ford, the two carmakers in Romania, produced around 59,500 cars in July and August 2020, up 10% year on year, according to romania-insider.com, citing Romanian Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACAROM) data.
The local media noted this was the first increase in production since mid March when a state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic paralysed the Romanian industry.
Ford produced 26,118 Puma and EcoSport SUVs in July-August, up 46%, the report added.
Ford factory workers in Craiova returned to three shift working at the end of July.
Production volume was now close to pre-COVID-19 outbreak level, factory management told local media at the time.
