Increased vehicle production in Romania will see Bosch boost its presence in the country by the end of this year.
Mihai Boldijar, the German group’s representative in Romania, told a press conference Bosch posted a turnover of EUR212m (US$288m) in the country last year, up 18% year on year, with technology for the auto industry the main growth driver.

The sales volume of auto technology in Romania posted double digit growth in 2013, thanks to an increase in production by Dacia and Ford, fueled by exports to eastern Europe and Africa.
Last year Bosch spent EUR70m (US$95m) in Romania at its plants in Cluj and Blaj. The company also expanded its communication center in Timisoara which now has 400 employees.
The factory in Cluj manufactures electronic components and control devices for the auto industry. The electronic core for the eBike propulsion system will be manufactured in Cluj in the future, according to Bosch.
Last November the German group opened a research and development centre at Jucu, near Cluj, which also offers engineering services for other Bosch units, as well as for local customers.
The unit in Blaj was recently expanded and will increase staff numbers to 1,000 by the end of 2014, 200 people more than at the beginning of the year.
