Output of road vehicles in Romania dropped 21.3% to 5,356 in January 2001 from 6,802 in January 2000, according to provisional totals provided to just-auto.com by the Association of Automobile Producers and Importers in Romania.

Year-on-year, volumes fell 32.0% for cars to 4,212 from 6,196, yet rose 87.8% for commercial vehicles to 1,138 from 606. Bus production was negligible – six in 2001, none in 2000.

In 2000 versus 1999, auto production contracted 26.9% to 78,165 from 106,924. Declines registered 27.3% for cars to 64,181 from 88,312, 24.7% for commercial vehicles to 13,948 from 18,512. Buses dove 64.0% to 36 from 100.
