Exports of road vehicles in Romania decreased 23.1% to 589 in February 2001 from 766 in February 2000, according to provisional data provided to just-auto.com by the Association of Automobile Producers and Importers in Romania.

Volumes dropped: 61.1% for commercial vehicles to 35 from 90; and 18.0% for cars to 554 from 676.

Year-to-date, exports remained up 30.6% for all vehicles to 1,213 in 2001 from 929 in 2000. Foreign sales rose 39.7% for cars to 1,171 from 838, yet fell 53.8% for commercial vehicles to 42 from 91. No buses were exported in the period for 2001 or 2000.

In 2000 versus 1999, auto exports grew 241.9% to 9,368 from 2,740. The upturn meant increases of: 278.2% for cars to 7,772 from 2,055; and 133.0% for commercial vehicles to 1,596 from 685. No buses were sold abroad either year.
