Europe’s leading automotive technology conference has announced a new name – and a major partnership deal with the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). From 2001, ISATA will be known as the Automotive & Transportation Conference and Exhibition (ATTCE). The change is designed to reflect more accurately the focus of the event, which is currently running in Dublin.
Under the new partnership arrangement between SAE and Messe Dusseldorf, the German exhibition company which acquired ISATA in 1997, ATTCE will be officially endorsed by SAE and SAE will handle sales and marketing of the convention in North America.

The inaugural ATTCE will be held from October 1-4 2001 in Barcelona, Spain. The conference will continue its current policy of being held in different European cities each year. The conference covers a wide range of automotive topics including alternative fuels, electric vehicles, materials, electronics, Intelligent Transportation Systems and safety.
Daily plenary sessions kick off each day, featuring presentations from senior automotive executives. At Dublin, the keynote address was delivered by Lawrence Burns, General Motors’ vice-president in charge of global research, development and planning, who addressed a wide range of issues concerning the car of the future. The event runs until Wednesday evening.
