Renault is extending its range of vehicles for emerging markets with a four-wheel drive crossover closely based on its Captur model sold in Europe, but named ‘Kaptur’ in Russia.
This SUV will be built and sold mainly in Russia, and likely also in Brazil and India. While it will be based on the same platform as the Renault Duster and Oroch, the Kaptur 4×4 will be larger than these models. Renault’s Moscow plant will be first to build it.

The Renault Kaptur 4×4 crossover for the Russian market will be produced by the Renault Moscow plant.
Renault says that it is “no coincidence” that the name of the new model starts with the letter ‘K’, in Russia. When the Kaptur was designed, the company conducted a survey among Russian customers that showed the ‘K’ underscores the “Russian Touch” of the new model. In addition, ‘K’ is associated, in Russian, with the key characteristics of the vehicle – Russian words beginning with cyrillic letter k that mean high quality, comfortable and good-looking, Renault maintains.
