The deal is said to broaden the two companies’ cooperation to the production and sale of zero- and low‑emission vehicles in Brazil under both the Renault and Geely Auto brands.
Renault and Geely have previously collaborated on several global initiatives, including joint investment in Renault Korea and the creation of Horse Powertrain.
Renault will maintain control of the Brazilian subsidiary and continue to consolidate it in the group’s financial statements.
As a minority investor, Geely will gain access to Renault do Brasil’s manufacturing and commercial infrastructure to support its regional expansion, according to the French carmaker.

By GlobalDataUnder the plan, Geely Auto–branded models will be built alongside Renault vehicles at the Ayrton Senna facility in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná, with the arrangement expected to raise overall output.
Renault Group CEO François Provost said: “The partnership we are announcing today with Geely in Brazil marks a decisive step forward in our international strategy. It establishes an agile cooperation founded on industrial excellence and technological leadership.
“Once again, combining our strengths will make us more competitive, more innovative, and more responsive in a fast-evolving automotive market.”
Renault also plans to deploy Geely’s GEA new energy platform to broaden its local line-up of zero- and low-emission models.
On the commercial front, Renault do Brasil will oversee sales and distribution of Geely Auto’s electrified range in the market, including associated financing and aftersales operations.
The cooperation is expected to strengthen both the companies’ positions in Brazil and speed up the growth of both brands in a market that represented over 40% of Latin American vehicle registrations in first half of 2025.
Geely Holding Group chairman Eric Li said: “Our continued cooperation with Renault in exploring new markets and new opportunities will make for a win-win scenario as both Renault and Geely are able to leverage technology scales on a global level to bring the best products to market.”
Separately, Renault is also in discussion with Chinese automaker Chery to investigate potential collaborations for co‑producing and sell cars, reported Reuters, citing an executive.
