Renault states that it is the “only carmaker to offer a full range of premium engine oils for all its models, formulated to include RRBO”.
Renault Group global after-sales vice president François Delion said: “This launch makes Renault Group the first OEM to provide its entire recent vehicle range with next-generation lubricants formulated with re-refined base oil.
“It’s a true demonstration that sustainability can go hand-in-hand with uncompromising performance and quality, over the complete lifecycle of the vehicle.”
The first product in the series, which complies with the RN17 (5W‑30) standard, is already on sale through Renault’s authorised dealerships across Europe.
According to the company, this grade is suitable for more than half of the Renault’s vehicles currently in operation in the region.
The RN17 oil sits alongside existing RN700 and RN710 specifications already in the market.
These are due to be complemented by RN720 and AN2022 formulations planned for next year, which together are intended to provide complete coverage for all Renault models with engine oils containing RRBO.
RRBO is derived from processed used lubricants, which are refined to standards comparable with virgin base oils.
Renault says the use of RRBO in the RN17 product reduces its carbon emissions by between 13% and 24% relative to traditional lubricants.
The company adds that performance, engine protection and warranty conditions are maintained.
Renault also reports that, developed with Castrol, the new oils meet its technical standards while continuing to provide engine safeguarding and warranty support.
Castrol business development and partnerships vice president Slawek Radon said: “By co-engineering these products, we’re helping Renault Group meet customer needs today and tomorrow with high-performance, lower carbon, more circular lubricants for the automotive sector.”
