“The decision to launch Ramcharger first was driven by overwhelming consumer interest, maintaining a competitive advantage in the technology and slowing industry demand for half-ton BEV pickups,” the company said in its press statement.
The Sterling Heights Assembly plant in Michigan will continue to handle the production of both electrified and internal combustion engine (ICE) versions of the Ram 1500.
The Ram 1500 Ramcharger is equipped with a 92kWh battery pack and a 130kW generator, offering a targeted range of up to 690 miles.
The vehicle’s front and rear electric drive modules are powered by outputs of 250 kW and 238 kW, respectively.

This month, Stellantis recalled over 300,000 Ram trucks due to a defect in the hydraulic control unit that could impact critical braking and stability systems.
The recall, reported by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), primarily affected the 2017-2018 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 models.
While the regular braking system remains unaffected, the defect could cause malfunctions in the anti-lock brake system, electronic stability control, and traction control.
