Porsche Romania, the VW group distributor and Romania's largest car importer, will invest in the country's EV charging infrastructure with dealer partners.

It plans to install at least 77 charging stations between 2019 and 2021, Porsche Romania general manager Brent Valmar told local media.

Each station would be at least 75kW and some would be able to deliver 150kW.

High power charging stations significantly reduce the time needed to charge an electric vehicle and Porsche plans to launch such vehicles, capable of being recharged at 75-150kW, starting this year.

The target is to fully recharge electric cars with high capacity batteries in less than an hour.

Volkswagen will actually be the first of the local Porsche group's brands to install charging stations. Twenty-four 75kW chargers will be installed by the end of 2019.

Audi will install at least 13 stations in 2019, with 50kW to 150kW capacity.

In 2020, the Romanian Skoda dealer network will have at least 29 stations with 75kW capacity.

In 2021, the SEAT network will be developed with a minimum of 11 75kW stations.
