Pony AI has announced a partnership with Shenzhen Xihu Group to deploy over 1,000 of its seventh-generation robotaxis in Shenzhen in coming years.
This collaboration marks a milestone in integrating autonomous driving with local mobility networks, aiming to accelerate the deployment of intelligent mobility services in tier-one cities in China.
Xihu Group, the “city’s largest taxi operator”, will play a crucial role in enabling Pony AI to scale up its robotaxi services.
The partnership will leverage Xihu Group’s expertise in taxi fleet operation, regulatory compliance, and service networks, combined with Pony AI’s proprietary technology and AI-powered order dispatch capability, to deliver a seamless autonomous mobility experience.
The partnership will adopt an “asset-light + AI-empowered model”, allowing Xihu Group to leverage its strengths in fleet operations and benefit economically, while Pony AI focuses on AI technology innovations and scalable robotaxi dispatch.
Pony AI is the first company authorised to operate paid fully-driverless robotaxis in Shenzhen’s city centres, demonstrating its technical capabilities in navigating complex urban environments.
