It is understood however, that the competition for the plant is between the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. The final decision will be taken at PSA’s French headquarters at the beginning of next year.

According to Gueudin, Poland has a good chance to attract this investment and he thinks the Silesia region is the best location for the factory due to skilled workforce and long traditions of car manufacturing.

“I personally would like to see the factory in Poland,” Gueudin told the Puls Biznesu daily, “as it would increase the credibility of our brand.” Poland is also a 40 million people market, he pointed out.

PSA’s central European plant will have an annual capacity of 300,000 units and production is scheduled to start in 2005.
