Car production in Poland fell an annual 7% in May, according to industry monitor SAMAR, as weak demand in Europe and a run of public holidays reversed a rise in April.
More encouraging was the fact that the scale of the decline was significantly smaller than falls earlier this year when output dropped over 20% in annual terms.

The number of passenger cars and trucks produced in Poland in the first five months of 2013 fell 17% year on year.
Fiat, General Motors and Volkswagen make cars in Poland and account for about 7% of industrial output. Poor sales across Europe, however, meant that Fiat, the largest carmaker in the country, was forced to lay off around a third of its workers there.
