Fiat Auto Poland has broken its production record at its Tychy plant where 500,000 cars were built by the end of October and it is now on target to hit 600,000 by the end of the year.

In 2008, Tychy produced 492,000 cars. Company director Zdzislaw Arlet told the Puls Biznesu daily newspaper that he is “certain” his factory will have produced more than 600,000 new vehicles by the end of the year with more than 300,000 of them Pandas.
In 2008, the plant built 247,000 Pandas. It has been building the Panda for the last seven years and also builds the Fiat 500 and Ford Ka among other models.
Arlet told reporters that the plant’s success makes it odds-on favourite to win the contract to build the new version of the Panda.”The decision [on manufacturing a new version of the Panda] will be taken within the next few months. Our plant is very professional and modern. We have high odds of winning,” he said.
