New car sales in Poland fell 8.5% in October compared to the same month last year to 25,286 according to figures from the research agency Samar.

The agency said the fall in sales was slowing as European economies begin to improve although it predicted that total sales for 2009 will be “slightly worse” compared to a year ago.
The report said that sales were stronger than car registration figures would suggest because about 18% of cars bought in Poland were taken outside the country, mainly to Germany.
