Car production in Poland was up 31.8% in November from the same month a year ago, the second consecutive month of rising output. In October, production was up 16.9%. Research agency Samar said that Fiat and GM factories in the country produced some 84,000 vehicles in November.

Piotr Bielski, economist at Bank Zachodni WBK, told Reuters: “A surpisingly high PMI indicator already prompted us to revise the industrial output forecast upwards and it seems Samar data confirms this view. There’s a huge jump of transportation vehicles in monthly terms – almost 47% – and this suggests Europe’s economies are rebounding as demand for transport increases.”


Analysts expect November industrial output figures, due on 17 December, to rise an annual 6.2%.


Poland’s economy, unlike most other EU states, avoided recession but the slowdown was sharp, moving from 5% growth in 2008 to what is expected to be slightly above 1%.
