Poland’s car output rose by 12.8% year-on-year to 170,143 units in the first quarter of 2007, according to Samar, the research company monitoring the Polish automotive market.

Fiat Auto Poland topped the list of the biggest passenger car producers in Poland since the beginning of 2007, with a 51% share of the total production.


The company’s output stood at 86,600 units in 2007, up by 22.1% year-on-year. Opel Polska followed with a 29.1% share, Volkswagen Poznan was third with 10.5%, and FSO SA came fourth with a 9.5% share of the passenger car output in the first quarter of 2007.


In March 2007 alone, Poland car output stood at 60,961 units, up 11.1% year-on-year.


For the first quarter of 2007, a total 198,577 passenger cars and delivery vans were manufactured in Polish factories, an 11% year-on-year increase.


The production of cars designated for the Polish market totalled 5,897 units, or 3.5% of the total car output in the third month of 2007, while 164,246 units were exported in the period.
