Toyota Autoparts Philippines, the global production and supply base for manual transmissions for the International Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) project, on Friday held a line-off ceremony to mark an annual production capacity increase from 150,000 to 330,000 units after an investment of about 5.6bn pesos.

About 500 new jobs will be created.


TAP will produce roughly 270,000 transmissions for the IMV project in 2008, exporting some to production sites in eight countries and regions.


Separately, Toyota Motor Philippines celebrated its 20th anniversary today.


TMP, established in 1988, began production and sales in 1989. Cumulative production and sales to the end of July were 410,000 and 540,000 vehicles respectively.
