Honda Cars Philippines has launched week the third-generation CR-V which, company officials said, would strengthen the company’s position in the crossover sports utility vehicle segment of the market.

According to Inquirer.net, Takashi Sekiguchi, HCPI president and general manager, said during the launch that it was hoped that the 2007 CR-V would boost sales to 250 units a month from last year’s average of 180 units a month.
The CR-V was first introduced in the Philippines in 1997 two years after its global debut. Local assembly started in 1998. Honda records show that since the start, at least 36,000 have been sold in the country. The second-generation CR-V came out in 2002, packaged as “the comfortable and practical sedan in a small SUV.”
Inquirer.net said the latest CR-V is shipped completely built from Thailand, but Honda would continue assembly of the Civic and City passenger cars in its facility in Laguna.
