Porsche has released details and images of four new 911 variants, each of which will have all-wheel drive.
The current generation 911 had its global debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September 2011 and went on sale in Germany three months later. The first variants were the 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera S. The 911 Carrera Cabriolet and Carrera S Cabriolet followed at the Detroit auto show in January. They went on sale in Germany two months later.

Now comes news of the AWD cars which will appear at next month’s Paris motor show: the Carrera 4 Coupé and Carrera 4 Cabriolet (powered by a 257kW/350hp 3.4-litre H6 engine), as well as the Carrera 4 S Coupé & Carrera 4 S Cabriolet (294kW/400hp 3.8).
The current 911 was the world’s first model to have a seven-speed manual transmission and this gearbox will also be offered in the AWD cars. A seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) twin-clutch automatic transmission is to be available as an option.
As with the former all-wheel drive 911 variants, the new ones have rear wheel arches that are wider by 22m compared to the two-wheel drive 911 Carrera models.
The four new AWD 911s go on sale in LHD & RHD European markets from late 2012.
