Japanese automaker Nissan Motor Company has unveiled its all-new Roox wagon-type kei car (mini-car) in Japan, featuring a new exterior body style, a roomier interior, and enhanced passenger comforts. Like its predecessor, the new Roox was developed by Nissan under the management of NMKV, its joint venture with Mitsubishi Motors.
The new fourth-generation Roox has a quieter, more upmarket interior, including a 12.3-inch infotainment display, which the automaker claims is a first within Japan’s kei segment. The new model features the NissanConnect in-vehicle technology suite, combining navigation, security, and entertainment, as a manufacturer option.

The new Roox comes with innovative driver assistance technologies, designed to aid awareness and make parking, driving on narrow roads and navigating intersections easier. The Intelligent Around View Monitor includes Invisible Hood View, which provides drivers with a virtual view through the engine bay, and 3D View, which provides an “intuitive” three-dimensional view of surrounding conditions.
In addition to the ProPILOT, the new model features Intelligent Emergency Braking, which detects pedestrians and oncoming vehicles; Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention (BSI); Intelligent Blind Spot Warning (BSW); and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).
Improvements have been made to the engine, to achieve better fuel efficiency and noise reduction, combined with additional noise-insulating layers in the vehicle’s body. The basic model is priced at around JPY 1.6 million, with full pricing details and specifications to be announced closer to the start of sales.
