Nissan's US unit has launched a new incentive to convince buyers to go electric with models like its Leaf.

The automaker and charger network provider EVgo are offering new owners and lessees access to more chargers and sweetening the deal with US$250 of pre-paid charging credits.

The deal gives Nissan EV owners access to the EvGo network of 750 public charging station locations with 1,200 fast chargers, as well as charging on other networks accessible through cooperative roaming agreements. That, claims the automaker, is 30,000 charge points and the largest of any US partnership.

EVgo added roaming access for its customers on the ChargePoint network, providing access to 28,000 Level 2 chargers and 300 fast chargers equipped with a CHAdeMO connector, in addition to its own. EVgo has also announced roaming agreements with [VW of America's] Electrify America and EV Connect.

Last August 2019, EVgo and Nissan said they'd expand charging with the installation of 200 direct current fast chargers across the country.

Each fast charger will deliver 100kW and have both CHAdeMO and CCS connectors.

Nissan itself has installed 2,000 quick charge connectors since 2010.

Nissan claims 100m people live within a 15 minute drive of an EVgo fast charger including those along the I-95 corridor on the east coast and along the DRIVEtheARC corridor in California from Monterey to Lake Tahoe.
