The company also expects the deal to accelerate and enhance AI-powered features in its Dash Cams.

Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Nextbase is planning to integrate HA’s technology into its existing suite of features, including Guardian Mode, Witness Mode, and Smart Sense Parking.

With the acquisition, Nextbase is looking to augment its offerings with advanced AI capabilities such as object detection, Advanced Driver Alerts, security, and driver monitoring systems.

Furthermore, this AI technology is expected to further improve Nextbase’s Crowd Sourced Imagery (CSI) platform.

The CSI platform allows Nextbase customers to contribute imagery to stakeholders in mapping, infrastructure management, and public safety.

Nextbase CEO Michael Anderson said: “Our current computer vision and AI investments coupled with this targeted acquisition demonstrate our commitment and vow to accelerate features to protect drivers using Nextbase products.

“The launch of our new imagery platform means that there now a solution that delivers real-time information to organisations that can make change such as road improvements happen.”

To encourage widespread adoption and compliance with the CSI platform, Nextbase has established the Road Safety Club. The initiative allows users to opt-in, receive rewards, and contribute to enhancing road safety.

Nextbase engineering director Ceri Hill said:“This acquisition will accelerate new technologies and features including object detection and other key security features of the Nextbase platform.

“We strongly believe in a future where AI combined with computer vision innovation, will enable features to drastically improve safety and protect drivers, passengers and the valuable assets Nextbase individual and commercial customers transport each day.”
