Commercial vehicle registrations rose 22% to 2,218. Year to date new car sales were up 17.4% and, after a slow start to the year, commercial vehicle sales were also ahead of 2009 year to date sales by 807 units or 9.6%.

“It is really encouraging to see these numbers”, said Motor Industry Association CEO Perry Kerr.

“At the beginning of the year we were forecasting around 10% growth on 2009 numbers. So far this year we are 17.4 % ahead.  We have now had six continuous months of growth in new car sales so we are hopeful that we have well and truly turned the corner on 2009.”
