Peugeot has shown a mid-cycle refreshed 508 that it claims will reinforce the brand’s image in key markets around the world.
The company says the new flagship 508 is emblematic of the brand’s future models and a move to take the brand upmarket.
The facelifted (new grille) and revised model comes with a number of equipment enhancements including a touch screen, reversing camera and blind spot sensors. Peugeot also highlights engine range enhancements and claims that the power units for the model range have the lowest CO2 and are the most economical in their segment.
The new Euro 6 compliant power units include the 2.0-litre BlueHDi 150 6-speed manual that achieves CO2 emissions averaging 105g/km, a claimed “best in the segment for this level of engine power”.
The revised 508 will be presented to the public in August simultaneously at the forthcoming Moscow and Chengdu Motor Shows, then at the Paris Motor Show, with sales starting in Europe from September. It will be launched in China in January 2015.
Built in France and in China, some 360,000 units of the 508 have been sold. China, which in 2013 became the biggest market for the model, represents 30% of sales.
