Six-speed manual transmissions are standard with six-speed automatic optional.
The automatic has a start/stop function. When used with the optional navigation system, it takes account of the selected route profile and control gear shifts. Based on navigation data, the appropriate drive position is selected to match the road ahead, preventing unnecessary upshifts.
The Cooper S and SD have a six-speed sports automatic transmission with shorter shift times, rev matching on downward shifts and which can be operated in manual mode using shift paddles behind the steering wheel.
Standard equipment includes USB interface and Bluetooth, electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, front fog lamps, trip computer and air conditioning.
The usual huge Mini option range and specially grouped packs can add two-zone automatic air-conditioning, heated front seats, panoramic glass roof, windscreen heating, rain sensors and automatic light control, a Harman Kardon hi-fi speaker system, sports leather steering wheel, park distance control, electrically heated and folding exterior mirrors, and both interior and exterior mirrors with automatic anti-dazzle function.
The five-door will be built at the main Mini factory Plant Oxford in England.
