The engine will supplement the Cummins five-litre V8 turbodiesel in early spring 2016 to complete the various engine offerings for new full-size pickup line which, Nissan said, "stakes out a unique position in the segment between traditional heavy-duty and light-duty entries".

The bold new design is claimed to combine "the capabilities of a heavy-duty hauler with the drivability and affordability of a light-duty pickup".
