Maruti Suzuki has pulled the wraps off its XA Alpha design study at the Delhi show.

The eye-catching styling is along similar lines to the recently-launched Range Rover Evoque.

It’s a B-segment SUV based on the Swift platform.

Maruti Suzuki engineering chief IV Rao said: “It’s a compact SUV targeting the youth market but it is a long way from production.”

Just how far? “It depends on what reaction we get,” said Rao. “It would take around three years to get the vehicle into production if we decided to go ahead.”

The concept was designed by Maruti in India and the company is aware of the burgeoning SUV segment there.
