The second production line at Renault-Nissan’s Tangier plant in Morocco was officially inaugurated on Tuesday (8 October, 2013).
The new line will increase the plant’s capacity to 340,000 vehicles a year, starting in 2014. The EUR400m line will produce the Dacia Sandero and Stepway.

This makes the plant the largest in Africa.
About 1,400 people have been recruited for the new line, taking the plant’s total workforce to 5,000. Morocco’s Institute for Training Automotive Industry Professionals, IFMIA, is helping train both new recruits and existing staff.
The plant was opened on 9 February, 2012.
The Renault-Nissan Tangier plant
- The factory is a société anonyme (limited company) owned 52.4% by the Renault group and 47.6% by Caisse de Dépôts et de Gestion (CDG).
- Produces Dacia Lodgy, Dokker and Dokker Van on line one and Sandero and Sandero Stepway on line two
- Two production lines include stamping, body in white, paint, sub-assembly and assembly) on an area of 300 hectares
- 5,000 workers, including 300 executives, works two shifts
