Mobileye has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with VVDN Technologies to localise and supply advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) technologies to automakers in India.

The agreement combines Mobileye’s global product and systems expertise with VVDN’s engineering, testing and manufacturing services to progress localisation and production readiness of ADAS solutions for the Indian market.

The partners plan to adapt key ADAS offerings based on Mobileye’s EyeQ family of system-on-chips (SoC) and related sensors, with VVDN supporting local engineering, validation and manufacturing activities.

Mobileye has previously shipped more than 200 million SoCs and provides technology used in a number of advanced ADAS deployments worldwide.

The collaboration is said to support quicker time-to-market and increased customisation for India-based automakers and export-ready vehicle platforms.

This comes against a backdrop of regulatory shifts, growing consumer demand and national initiatives such as Made-in-India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Mobileye vice president of India Elie Luskin said: “India is a strategic priority for us. We are building a strong local ecosystem, and VVDN is an important part of that vision.

“This announcement helps accelerate our mission to bring world-class safety and driving intelligence to India’s roads, while establishing manufacturing capabilities that can support both Indian and global programmes.”

VVDN founder and president Vivek Bansel said: “Our strong engineering and manufacturing base, combined with Mobileye’s leadership in ADAS, creates a compelling proposition for India’s automotive future.”

Separately, in April, Mobileye selected Valens Semiconductor’s VA7000 chipsets for sensor-to-compute connectivity intended for its EyeQ6-based automated and autonomous driving programmes with global manufacturers.
