Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has delivered five Outlander PHEVs and five i-MiEV electric vehicles to the Philippine Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), along with four electric vehicle quick charger units.

The vehicles will be utilized by the DENR and other government agencies for business use.

The deliveries form part of a memorandum of understanding signed in February between MMC and DENR regarding a joint study into environmental load reduction using electric technologies used in two of MMC's environment-friendly models.

MMC plans on encouraging other institutions including government administrations, universities, and electric companies to join the project, which aims to reduce CO2 emissions and traffic congestion in the Philippines.

Osamu Masuko, CEO of MMC, said: "The delivery of these vehicles and charger units is a vote of confidence in the electric technologies of Mitsubishi Motors. We are pleased to be playing our part in helping reducing emissions in partnership with the DENR in the Philippines."

The presentation ceremony coincided with the first ASEAN Electric & Hybrid Vehicles Summit.
