Michelin Romania, part of French tyre manufacturer Michelin Group, said it had gradually resumed production at its metallic cord factory in Zalau, local media reported.
"The necessary sanitary measures have been implemented, in accordance with legislation in force and with internal regulations, our priority being to protect the health and safety of our employees," Michelin officials were quoted by local daily Ziarul Financiar, SeeNews said.
Besides the metallic cord plant, Michelin operates two tyre production units in Romania in Zalau and in the southern town of Floresti.
The company added tyre production in Floresti and Zalau remained suspended.
Michelin's plants halted production on 28 March because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Michelin Cord Zalau, which employs 350 people, is a strategic unit for the group, according to Michelin Romania's website.
