MEXICO: Volkswagen exports down 18.3% in first half
Volkswagen de Mexico reports that exports from its manufacturing operations declined by 18.34% to 136,830 units in the first half of 2002. However, comments by Volkswagen de Mexico spokesman Luis Miguel Briones reported by the local media suggest that the company is confident that export volumes will pick up in the second half of the year. Hopes are pinned on accelerating growth in the US economy as well as the launch of the New Beetle Cabrio.
