The automaker began manufacturing the model last month at its plant in Aguascalientes, central Mexico.

“The Note completes an investment of US$1.05bn for the development of compact vehicles that started with the March and the Versa,” Nissan Mexicana vice president of manufacturing Armando Avila said in a statement.

The 2014 hatchback model offers better technology, including Bluetooth, a camera in the rear, a colour screen for the audio system and a starter button, among other features.

The vehicle, which has a 1.6-litre fuel-injected four cylinder engine, is being built in four versions in Mexico, with both manual and automatic transmissions.
