The Spanish News Digest reports that vehicle sales in Mexico rose 13.1% year-on-year in April 2004, to 80,224 units, registering a record high performance for April, according to data of sector association AMIA.

Car sales in the period rose 7% to 54,470 units, according to AMIA.
Despite the rising sales, vehicle production fell 2.3% to 119,868 units in April. Car production decreased by 0.3% to 70,141 units in the month.
Mexico’s vehicle exports fell 9.6% year-on-year in April, to 87,455 units. Car exports were down 10.9% to 44,688 units while light truck exports declined by 8.15 to 42,767 units.
Vehicle sales in Mexico from January to April 2004 rose 10.3% year-on-year to 346,540 units.
