Kia Motors does not plan to share its upcoming Mexico plant with parent Hyundai Motor.

“Each company takes a different route, each one has its own strategy,” the company’s CEO for Mexico, Horacio Chavez, said.

The plant, being built in northern Mexico at a cost of US$1bn, will start operations in 2016 and manufacture 300,000 cars a year. About 20% of output will be exported to South America, around 60% to the US and the remaining will be sold locally.

In Mexico, Kia plans to begin selling vehicles from July, with an aim to sell 9,000 units in 2015, ETAuto.com reported, citing Reuters.
