During the first seven months of the year, General Motors of Mexico retained its leadership in terms of total sales and market share in the domestic automobile industry.

The company said its success was based on a favorable combination of products, prices and financing plans. In July, GM sold a total of 19,833 vehicles (cars and trucks), accounting for 28.2 percent of all new vehicle sales in Mexico during the month. For the January-July 2000 period, GM reported total sales of 177,810 units in Mexico, giving the company a 24.9-percent share of the local market, 5 percentage points more than in its closest competitor.
