Mercedes-Benz has opened a new parts distribution centre on the outskirts of Bangkok to help improve deliveries of aftermarket parts across Thailand.

Mercedes-Benz Thailand, the local subsidiary of the German luxury automaker, has 32 service centres across the country. There are also numerous independent service outlets that provide aftermarket services for Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

The new THB500m (US$15m) facility is located on the Bang Na-Trat road on the site where the company's vehicle preparation centre was previously located. It occupies at 45,000 square metre area, of which 13,000 sq m is for parts storage, with the remainder used for training and for a flagship service centre.

Mercedes-Benz Thailand's president and CEO Roland Folger said the centre will increase efficiency and speed up parts distribution to its service centres across the country, which he expects will result in improved customer service and satisfaction.

The company sold a total of 14,400 light passenger vehicles in Thailand in 2018, almost 13% more than the 12,800 units it sold in 2017.
