
Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz Cars has kicked off the second quarter of 2017 with record April sales – for the 50th consecutive month.
Volume rose 10.1% year on year to 180,599 vehicles. Year to date sales rose 14.5% to 741,224 units.
Mercedes-Benz claimed premium brand market leadership in Germany, UK, Spain, Switzerland, Portugal, Japan, Australia, Taiwan, the US and Canada.
“April was very successful: we achieved our 50th consecutive record month for unit sales and once again a double-digit growth,” said marketing and sales chief Britta Seeger.
Sales by region and market
In Europe, outside Germany, sales rose 3.9% to a record 75,928 vehicles. In the domestic market, sales rose 5% to 95,171.

By GlobalDataAsia-Pacific volume rose 29.8% to 68,485 units with China sales up 35.3% to 47,627.
NAFTA volume was up 3.5% to 126,191 year to date after rises in the US (+1.0%), Canada (+13.2%) and Mexico (+37.7%).
Top model
The C-Class was the most popular Mercedes-Benz model last month with 33,666 sales. The Beijing Benz JV-built long-wheelbase version, exclusive to China, set an April sales record.
