The report citing Audi AG regional sales and marketing director Markus Schrick said the group expects sales of more than 52,000 Audi cars and some 530,000 Volkswagens this year in the Asia-Pacific, which now contributes nine percent to total group sales.

“Our goal now is to continuously boost the contribution of the Asia-Pacific region, which will this year reach double digits of total group sales,” Schrick told reporters after the signing of new distributorship agreements with Edaran Otomobil Nasional (EON), which also distributes Proton national cars.

EON unit Euromobil Sdn. Bhd. will take over exclusive distributorship of Audi cars from Auto Dunia by early 2003 while Volkswagens will be jointly distributed by EON and Auto Dunia until a pact with Auto Dunia ends at the end of 2003, the report said.

Schrick said the split from Auto Dunia, was a mutual agreement as the company “did not share the same vision or concept.”
