Malaysia’s new vehicle sales rose by 10.6% year-on-year to 45,200 units in November, compared with 40,865 units a year earlier, according to data released by the Malaysian Automotive Association.

Passenger car sales rose by 11.9% to 40,569 units, from 36,254 units a year earlier, reflecting improving consumer sentiment and low interest rates. Commercial vehicle sales were flat, at 4,631 compared with 4,611 units, reflecting continued spare capacity in the industry.
Cumulative sales for the January-November period amounted to 489,237 units, a decline of 3.7% year-on-year. The market looks on track to exceed 530,000 units this year compared with 548,115 units in 2008 – a decline of little over 3%, helped by low interest rates and other stimulus measures.
