New vehicle sales in Malaysia fell by 1.4% to 51,104 units in August, from 51,818 a year earlier, according to data released by the Malaysian Automotive Association.
Passenger vehicle sales were also 1.4% lower at 45,052 units, compared with 45,681 units, and commercial vehicle volume dropped by a similar rate to 6,052 units.

In the first eight months of 2013, new vehicle sales rose by 5% to 433,023 units, from 412,546 units in the same period of 2012.
