Malaysia first national car company, Proton, and Honda Motor are currently holding talks to explore potential collaboration, Malaysia’s trade and industry minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed told local reporters.
He said the two companies are currently holding a series of meetings to explore the potential to collaborate on new product, platform sharing and technology transfers.

Proton currently assembles the Honda Accord which its sells as the Perdana model for use as a government vehicle. A total of 1,700 of these have been produced since the agreement became effective in 2013.
From 2016, Proton will be able to sell this model to the public, essentially when the model is replaced by Honda. Details of other areas of collaboration were not revealed.
