Malaysia’s second national car company Perodua said it had received 6,000 orders for its new Axia small car since mid-August.
The car has been on sale in Indonesia since last year badged as the Daihatsu Ayla. Its small 1,000cc engine offers fuel efficiency equivalent to 21.6 km per litre.

Perodua expects monthly sales of the Axia will reach 8,000 units after its launch next month, helped by its low starting price of MYR24,900 (US$7,900).
