Mazda and Bermaz Motor have established a 70-30 joint venture called Mazda Malaysia to assemble and sell cars in the country from next spring. The company was formally launched at a ceremony today (11 September).
Mazda Malaysia, with headquarters in Selangor, will assemble Mazda 3 and CX-5 models and has an annual production target of around 3,000 units of each. The 3 has been assembled in Malaysia since January last year.

Mazda said in a statement it established the JV to enable it to respond more quickly to the needs of the market and help strengthen Mazda’s business opportunities in the country.
The joint venture is capitalised at JPY2.1bn (US$27m).
